15th November, 2011
Choose Life The Prisoners Initiative.
Choose Life The Prisoners Initiative is now recruiting volunteers to participate in a two week training course that is funded by the Engagement Gateway. The course will be in Denbigh.Once the volunteers have completed the course they will go on to deliver drug education in Schools, Colleges and Professional organisations.Choose Life has had over six hundred volunteers and have educated over fifty thousand Young People and over six thousand Professionals. The volunteers will have their self-confidence and self-esteem boosted in a caring and nurturing environment that has seen many of our volunteers go on to employment. Many of our six hundred volunteers have had many years in the criminal justice system, years of criminality and have often never worked. We know from experience that Choose Life will give the same volunteers the self-reliance to move their lives forward to the benefit of themselves, family and the greater community. The participants will either have a history of drugs /alcohol or will wish to work in the drugs field. The volunteers will receive training on drama, power point presentation, child protection, confidence building and communication skills. They will receive accreditation in Emergency First Aid at Work.If the potential volunteer has confidence issues (which we fully expect) please ask them to get in touch for an initial meeting. The volunteers must be unemployed or economically inactive. If they are in receipt JSA OR ESA they must not be on the work programme.
